The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will launch the Real Estate Learnership Programme in Middelburg, in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

The programme is marked as a game-changer in the government’s youth empowerment and skills development initiatives. Two hundred (200) unemployed youth from the Ehlanzeni, Nkangala and Gert Sibande districts have been enrolled for the duration of 12 to 18 months. During this period the learners will acquire valuable theoretical knowledge, combined with work-integrated learning, mentorship and regulatory licensing.

The Premier, Mr. Mandla Nlovu says the Real Estate Learnership Programme is a youth empowerment programme geared towards repositioning the youth to participate in the economic activities of the province. “The launch of the learnership programme signifies our determination to upskill the youth in Mpumalanga for economic opportunities. The real estate has many opportunities in the pipeline, and the knowledge the learners will acquire, is essential to reposition them for such opportunities,” Premier Ndlovu emphasized.

The programme is an outcome of a partnership between the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, the Services SETA and the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA), and will be held under the theme: "Opening Doors to Opportunity: Empowering Young People Through Real Estate Skills and Careers". On completion, the learners will obtain an NQF Level 4 qualification.

Minister of Human Settlements, Ms. Thembi Simelane will deliver the keynote address at launch. MECs, Executive Mayors, Board Members of Services SETA and representatives of the PPRA will attend the launch.
