The MEC for Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Ntshalintshali led the International Day of Families Celebration at Boschfontein, under Nkomazi Local Municipality
(Ehlanzeni District).
International Day of Families is celebrated yearly on the 15th of May, as adopted by United Nations.
The theme for this year is "𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀".
The aim for the event is to raise awareness about the importance of families and to promote the well-being of families worldwide.
"We must all remember that families are the building blocks of society and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities", said the MEC as she reminded the community about demographic trends.
In conclusion, MEC Ntshalintshali said that we need to go back to the basics, as it is said that " a child is raised by the community not by the only household is coming from".
It is not too late to return to our values and the culture we have lost, be the neighbour that you want to have.
Protect Our Africa, Our Future.
