The Department of Social Development Welcomes the Humanitarian Relief from Old Mutual.

Mbombela –About 300 families affected by floods which occurred early February 2023 in Nkomazi will receive humanitarian relief donated to Social Development by Old Mutual. The handover of the humanitarian by Old Mutual Foundation (OMF) to the people of Nkomazi is part of Old Mutual’s Humanitarian and Disaster Risk Reduction initiative and a response to government’s call for the private sector to partner with government in response to the victims of floods.

“As the Department of Social Development, we would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Old Mutual for this important humanitarian initiative towards the plight of the people of Nkomazi and the other areas. We are proud of our relationship with Old Mutual and believe, it is initiatives like these than can help us rescue our people from their plight.

‘’The Department of Social Development acknowledges that partnerships between private sector and the departments can go a long way in addressing the challenges of poverty, unemployment and the scourge of Gender Based Violence and addressing socials ills in communities. We wish to reiterate the call that has always been made by government for continued social partnerships with all sectors in order to ensure the protection of our vulnerable groups in society” concluded MEC Ntshalintshali”.

Areas that will benefit from the humanitarian relief includes Loiuville, Mekemeke, Kuda, Mkhwarukhwaru, Tsambokhulu, Goba, Middleclass, Mandulo, Tonga Kwamhlushwa, Mangweni, Mjejana Gomora and Block B
