Hazyview – A family of ten members from a rural area called Madras outside Hazyview in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality will no longer have to worry about sleeping in a dilapidated house after government and private partnership handed over a new brand-new house to the Nkuna family.

This comes after the Department of Human Settlement and the Department of Social Development in Mpumalanga responded to a call from community members who alerted the media about the plight of the Nkuna Family.

Accepting the house on behalf of her family an exited and emotional Sibongile Nkuna could not hide her joy and describe the feeling of her family owning a fully furnished house. She said that the house will restore dignity to the family and also expressed her gratitude to all who made it possible for them to sleep in a house which is properly built.

The Department of Social Development intervened by profiling the family, assisted with the social relief of the distress, blankets, gardening tools, children are the beneficiary of the school uniform provided by the South African Social Security Agency. Meanwhile the Department of Human Settlement mobilized sponsors who built the house and furnished it.

MEC Ntshalintshali urged other private sector to partner with government in its quest to deliver the mandate to the people of the province, she further acknowledged the contribution made by the private sector in assisting government in delivering its mandate to the people who depends on government on service delivery.

The MEC for Human Settlement Speedy Mashilo thanked the sponsors for responding positively when they are approached and urged other private sector to do the same.
