The Mpumalanga Department of Education wishes to state that the Preliminary report indicate that a school block consisting of one classroom, a staff room and a storeroom was damaged during the incident.
The affected section of the school remains a crime scene while investigations continue.
The Department is however encouraged to confirm that learning and teaching will proceed tomorrow.
The school will utilise two classrooms that were previously not in use to accommodate learners who were using the damaged block of classes.
A case of arson is currently under investigation by the South African Police Service.
The Department appeals to any person who may have information relating to the circumstances surrounding the incident to report such information to the police.
Officials from the Department remain on site to assess the extent of the damage and to support the school management team during this period.
Measures are also being explored to ensure that affected learners and educators continue to receive the necessary support.
The Department will continue to monitor the situation closely and further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.
