The MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, Hon. Andries Gamede invites all media houses to the Rabies Information Day event that will bring all interested parties together in the quest to improve cooperation in rabies control. The parties include Veterinary Services officials, Animal Welfare Organisations, Private Veterinary and Human Health professionals.
The day’s events have been divided into two. The first will involve field vaccinations at Chweni near KaBokweni; the second session will be an information evening wherein Veterinary and Medical professionals from both the Public and the Private Sector will discuss issues on rabies control, at Protea Hotel in Valencia at 18H30.
The World Health Organisation declared the 28th of September as World Rabies Day. It also encouraged events to promote awareness regarding rabies throughout the month of September. Rabies is an endemic disease in Mpumalanga, and the province could become the next centre of rabies infection in the country, if control measures are not put in place.
The field vaccinations event is scheduled as follows:
VENUE: Chweni Trust (near KaBokweni)
DATE: 30 September 2014
TIME: 09H00
