MEC for COGTA in Mpumalanga, Mr Mandla Msibi has sent condolences to the President of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA), Kgoshi Mathibela Mokoena. This follows the passing on of the Queen mother, Leyimisang Mokoena.
In his condolences Mr Msibi paid tribute to the late Queen mother, describing her as a pillar of strength to the Mathibela Royal Council. “We join the Province in mourning the passing of the Queen mother. This is a huge loss not just for the Mathibela Royal family but for the entire Province. Her wealth of indigenous knowledge which included guiding the communities within the jurisdiction of Mathibela, on issues such as ingoma practice was evident in the safe passage of initiates towards adulthood. Through her guidance, no fatalities occurred in the initiation schools that took place in areas within the Mathibela Tribal Authority,” Mr Msibi lamented.
Mr Msibi expressed hope that Kgoshi Mokoena and the entire royal family will emulate the values espoused by the Queen mother as they start a new chapter. The funeral is expected to take place on Saturday at Oakley, in Bushbuckridge. The annual Mathibela cultural ceremony has been postponed due to the bereavement.
Ends.
