Department of Health will commemorate World Malaria Day with community health workers and spray operators

World Malaria Day is commemorated on 25 April every year by the international community and recognized the global efforts to end malaria. Mpumalanga province is one of the endemic malaria provinces with malaria cases concentrated in Ehlanzeni district in Nkomazi, City of Mbombela and Bushbuckridge. The malaria season transmission in the province starts every year from August continued to mild winter in May in the following year.

Mpumalanga Department of Health to take disciplinary actions against three nurses at Tonga hospital

The Mpumalanga Department of Health will take disciplinary actions against three nurses at Tonga Hospital. This after allegations of alleged assault were reported against them by a patient. 

It is alleged that one of the nurses mishandled the patient who was half naked lying on the floor next to her bed. 

MEC for Health in Mpumalanga hold engagements with COSATU and SAMATU to address issues of unemployment of doctors and commuted overtime

The South African Medical Association Trade Union (SAMATU) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) have vented out their frustration over the alleged unemployment of some doctors in the province and issues regarding commuted overtime. The Unions says there are about 78 graduates who are qualified as doctors but have not been employed by the Department.

To ensure transparency, the MEC for Health in the Province, Sasekani Manzini and her Departmental management, earlier this week, held several meetings with the unions regarding the two issues.
