15 lives lost on Mpumalanga roads over the weekend

Fifteen lives were lost over the weekend in road crashes that occurred in various roads across the province. Most of the deadly crashes happened on Saturday. On the R546 Road between Charl Cilliers and Embalenhle, four lives were lost when two sedans collided head on. The crash happened around 06h00 on Saturday. Three of the victims died at the scene while the fourth person succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

MS MEC Shabalala saddened by the arrest of six law enforcement officers in Mpumalanga

Road crashes continue to claim lives of many people and cost the economy billions of rands annually.

These crashes also leave many families devastated and most of these crashes are, however, avoidable. They are largely due to human error and general disregard for the rules of the road by road users. This therefore requires stricter law enforcement by traffic and police officers. The officers should never be part of breaking the law by, among others, accepting bribes from motorists. The law enforcers must issue traffic offenders with summonses or arrest them.
